Les Pardines – La Carbonera – Engolasters

This is an easy-to-follow route with no technical difficulty, suitable for families. Along the way, you will enjoy the forest and natural surroundings, and learn about traditional charcoal production and how charcoal kilns were used.

The route starts at the Les Pardines car park, heading towards the path at the far end, where you will find information panels about the different routes. You will also see a wooden sign indicating “Carbonera 2100 m” and a marker for the inter-parish path (CI).

This is a wide and well-defined path, following the signs “La Carbonera 35 min”, which you will follow for 2.1 km. You will leave it when you reach, on your left, a sign titled “Camins del Bosc Negre”. From there, you will go up some wooden steps and continue along a path protected by a railing. About 200 metres further on, you will reach the charcoal kiln.

You will then continue along the communal path (CC), following the yellow markings towards Camp del Serrat. You will also find signposts with blue markers indicating “La Carbonera i Engolasters”. Further on, these markers change to orange and purple, indicating “Circuit del Bosc i La Carbonera”. Follow both sets of signs as you descend towards the Lake Engolasters, where you will find information boards and the unmistakable GR trail markings (white and red).

You will then reach the wide “Nature Trail” track, which, without leaving it, will take you back to Les Pardines: first running parallel to the lake and then offering views over Encamp and the high mountains in the background, dominated by Casamanya.
