This is a route with no technical difficulty that will take us to the church of Sant Romà de Vila and then to the summit of Pic de Padern, offering impressive views over the valley.
We will start in front of the Tourist Office, walking down Joan Martí Avenue. When we reach the church of Sant Miquel, we will turn right to cross the bridge over the Valira d’Orient river. Immediately, we will turn left following Passeig de Mojácar, then right and continue downhill along Valireta Street. We will turn right again and continue along Príncep Benlloch Avenue.
We will cross the roundabout via the pedestrian crossing to continue in the same direction along the Vila and Beixalís road. We will reach another roundabout, which we will also cross via the pedestrian crossing to continue along the Riberaigües road. After the cemetery, we will turn right and find the sign for the CC (communal path) Camí de Vila. Following the yellow markings and signs, with no possibility of getting lost, we will reach the church of Sant Romà de Vila.
We will continue uphill along the paved path until we quickly reach the Vila-Beixalís road. From here on, we will follow the yellow markings exclusively. We will continue uphill for about 50 metres to take a trail on the right that will avoid a section of road. We will return to the road, which we will follow uphill for about 150 metres until we enter the trail that will lead us, in a steep ascent, to the Collada de Beixalís, where we will briefly step onto the asphalt before rejoining the trail.
Over the final 500 metres, now more level, we will reach the summit of Pic de Padern, where we will enjoy spectacular views over the valley.
Church of Romanesque origin, restored in the 19th and 20th centuries
