This is a varied and easy-to-follow route with no technical difficulty, although it requires a moderate level of fitness to cope with the significant elevation gain, some short but fairly steep sections —both uphill and downhill— and the overall distance.
The route starts in front of the Tourist Office. We head down Carrer Major and, at the level of Sant Miquel church, turn left onto Carrer de Sant Miquel, where we quickly find the GR trail markings (white and red stripes). We continue along the Camí de l’Arena and, at the roundabout, turn left again onto Carrer Mirador d’Encamp, which leads us to the start of the path, signposted towards Fener de l’Olla and Lake Engolasters.
From here, we begin a steady climb along a shaded forest path that takes us up to the lake. Halfway up, we will find a turn-off leading back to Encamp via the Fener de l’Olla path; we ignore it and continue climbing.
Once at Lake Engolasters, we follow the signs for the Circuit del Mig until we reach the spillway. We then continue around the lake, passing in front of Bosc Aventura, until we return to the starting point of the loop.
The path now becomes a wide track: the Camí de les Pardines, a botanical interpretation trail with numerous information panels. On the right, we find the waterfall of the La Molina river; we pass through a tunnel and reach the Les Pardines car park.
From there, we join the Cortals road, following it uphill for a few metres until we reach the entrance to the inter-parish path (CI) from Canal de Ransol to Engolasters. We follow the yellow markings, crossing several streams via wooden footbridges, and pass beneath the Funicamp line.
Further on, we leave the CI and continue along the Camí del Boixader (CC) and the Camí de l’Oratori, which, via a fairly steep descent and some cobbled sections, leads us back to Encamp. We first reach Avinguda de Rouillac and then turn right onto Avinguda de François Mitterrand, which brings us back to the starting point.
