Encamp – Bony de les Neres (Vertical Kilometre)

This route features a steep incline and loose terrain along much of the trail. It is only suitable for people with excellent physical condition and good adaptation to mountain terrain. For the descent, we recommend Route 12.

The route starts at the Encamp Tourist Office and continues down Avinguda de Joan Martí. We cross through the Gent Gran Park and over the river bridge. We then go down Passeig de Mojocar, descend the stairs and continue downhill along the street on the left. At the junction, we turn uphill onto Carrer Balcó del Solà and continue until, a few metres later, we reach the entrance to the path signposted as Camí de la Carrera.

We follow the paved path for a few metres before entering the forest. Shortly afterwards, we find a signpost indicating Camí del Bau, which we ignore, continuing to the left. Along a sunny path, we quickly gain elevation, enjoying spectacular views over Encamp and the valley.
 

Once inside the forest, we find a sign indicating Font del Torrent de la Canadilla, Borda del Cardaco and Torrent de l’Aviar to the right, and Camí del Solà to the left. We turn left. Shortly afterwards, another signpost for Camí de la Carrera clearly indicates the direction to Bony de les Neres.

We then cross a wide logging area before re-entering the forest. From this point on, the slope becomes steep and the terrain loose, making the ascent demanding. We cross the Tomb de les Neres path and continue uphill until we reach a wide track that leads us within a few metres to Bony de les Neres.

If we wish to return on foot while avoiding the steep descent of this route, we can take Encamp - Les Bons - Bony de les Neres route, which first heads to Coll d’Ordino and then descends more gently to Les Bons, from where we return to the centre of Encamp via Passeig de Mojacar.
