Feast of the Virgin of the Oratory

Encamp celebrates once again the traditional Feast of the Virgin of the Oratory. The event will take place on September 7 and will begin at 11:00 with the prayer to the Virgin and the offering of flowers. Later, will be the song of the joys and dancing sardanas. History of the Virgin Mary of the Oratory

The oratory of les Bons is a small adoratori to the Virgin located on top of the area of les Bons, at the beginning of the old royal road of Canillo.

Formerly, when the road did not exist, at this point the hardest stretch of the royal road began in the direction of Meritxell, so, pedestrians took advantage to rest and prayed a safe to the Virgin.

The legend explains that the oratory was built by three peasants in the 19th century as a result of a promise they made to the Virgin: one day, while they were working the land, they were surprised by a very strong storm, and of the fear that passed they promised the Virgin  that if they left they would make an oratory.

The small building houses a beautiful majolica.
